Their story
Originally from North Africa and from a rich and generous culture, Berber rugs are full of stories and emotions. Going back more than 10,000 years, the making of Berber carpets results from a particular way of life of the nomadic tribes who lived in the northeast of the Atlas Massif. The women of these tribes collected sheep’s wool to weave their goods (linen, tents, clothes and carpets). From this itinerant life, an ancestral know-how developed, which was then transmitted from generation to generation and very often from mother to daughter. Often qualified as abstract art, the inspiration for the patterns found on Berber rugs comes from age-old traditions and an instinctive imagination.
